Description
“We want the best. We don’t care what color or gender or age they are.”
A common sentiment, and one that is often genuine. And yet, the numbers tell a different story. So why, if we all want to hire the best, promote the best, work with the best, are we not seeing all the best humanity has to offer in the form of demographic representation?
There are multiple reasons for this phenomenon. Reasons that we have inherited across generations. Reasons that go undetected even when their impacts are so powerful. And reasons that are rooted in the simple commonality we all share – being human. Three of the most common are BIAS, INEQUITY, and MISALIGNMENT.
In this session, we will explore bias, inequity, and misalignment. What they are, where they come from, and how they impact our professional environments.
